Plans

Through the lens, this is where we see ourselves.
At Helena Agspace we see ourselves venturing into:

Value Addition of Cereals: This includes but not limited to milling of certain cereals. At Helena Agspace we are keeping our options open by seriously looking into prospects of this area as it will not only increase our market but also offer better prices to our farmers who are the heart of our organization.

Grain Banking: This concept basically involves buying during harvest when prices are low and selling later when there are shortages but at reasonable prices not taking advantage of the situation. Grains are not allowed to leave the area and hence it creates food security within the same locality. At Helena Agspace, we are looking into this area very keenly as we hope to enroll our farmers into this program where they not only get to buy at affordable prices but also they can invest into the system and enjoy some extra advantages.

Mechanization: Farm machinery is another area where many African farmers are not very keen to invest in and it really affects the yields that they get. Proper farm machinery enhances time management, efficiency and effectiveness. These factors are the determinants of yields and lack of any means that there are expected losses. If we could invest more into farm machinery, it will boost our farmers greatly and henceforth better their standards of living. If work is also made easier, many young people will also be attracted into farming.

Youth participation: We plan in enrolling more young people into profitable agricultural ventures and offering them mentorship especially young women. This is a very important goal for us as we strongly believe that the youth are the solution to food security and young women in particular will help mitigate issues of malnutrition in children. Women empowerment means that so many other issues will be kept at bay like domestic violence and decisions such as family planning will be arrived at jointly. Also not forgetting that if you empower a woman, you are empowering a whole village.

Skills and knowledge transfer: We are hoping to train the community as a whole on climate smart agriculture though the young will still be our area of focus. We are hoping to train them on the necessary skills needed and transfer our knowledge through guided work and also working together with the community to attain the expected results.
